Sumac Chef Raquel Zagury Names Her Favourite Montreal Food Spots

For The Gazette’s Urban Expressions.

The chef and co-owner of white-hot Middle Eastern restaurant Sumac recently sat down with The Gazette for a “My Montreal” Urban Expressions interview.

Sumac chef Raquel Zagury likes to keep it classic when it comes to casual bites in the city. Her go-to spots include Chalet Bar-B-Q, Paul Patates and Kam Fung. The likes of Café Saint-Henri and the new Buck 15 café also get some love.

For a splurge, Zagury cites two notable places not far from her Saint-Henri restaurant:

“I recently went to Le Vin Papillon as a post-baby date with my boyfriend and adored it. I loved the excitement of small sharing dishes that just kept coming. We drank wine by the glass and gave the server a carte blanche to bring whatever she felt suited us. It was brilliant fun and the food was perfection. I also love Tuck Shop. I baked a few of their desserts as part of their weekly dessert menu for three years up until very recently.”
